Academic Team

Academic Bowl Dates:
Selection of participants and practices will begin in August, 2023.
 
Purpose:

The Academic Bowl Team will provide students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge in many subject areas beyond the school curriculum.  We are looking for experts in literature, math, science, social studies, art, music, sporting trivia and all other areas of trivia. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their scholastic aptitude, demonstrate good citizenship, portray a competitive spirit, and enjoy the academic experience.

Activities:
Houston County School District Academic Bowl
PAGE Bowl regional competition
PAGE Bowl state competition
Competitions against other middle school students as available

Qualifications:

Enrollment in advanced classes for the grade-level of the student
Maintain an 85% or higher average

Entrance exam at tryouts
Teacher recommendation - based on motivation, skill, work ethic, and desire

Able to stay after school for practice sessions

Dues:

A $20 per student fee that is collected via a fund raiser that is provided by academic team sponsors.
